Greg Johannesen developed his interest in art at an early age, spurred on by an art award he won at age 6. Growing up In Virginia Beach, nature has always been a major part of his life and art experience. Greg has returned to his earliest influences and takes his “studio” outdoors to painting en plein air along the Chesapeake Bay.
Greg is a member of MAPAPA (Signature Member), the Pastel Society of America, and the Maryland Pastel Society (Signature Member). He has been featured in PleinAir Magazine, and in Gary Pendleton’s book, 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic. He has work in the permanent collection of the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, the Avian Corporate Collection in St. Mary’s, MD , E. Morgan and Joan C. Massey private collection in Richmond, VA and work in numerous other corporate and private collections. His work has garnered numerous awards.
